Welcome to the NEW updated COSMOS - 2005

" The Cosmos Legend lives on " . The first page of this web-site has been built around the original Sales Brochure for the newly re-fitted Cosmos ( 2005 ) . Other minor upgrades took place in 99 , 00 & 04

Upgrade../...Re-fit . 2005... ( What's new ? )

The most significant upgrade is the recreation of the entire stern . A new double staircase rising up from the swim platform effectively added 4 ft to the over all length of the vessel . The bow received a spa / jacuzzi and cushion seating area . Some décor changes were made to the main living area and cabins below with mixed results . An attempt to use darker colours had a negative effect on making large areas seem smaller . The original Cosmos colour scheme was a brilliant balance of light shades , designed to enhance the open space feeling . The top deck has been improved , however it required the loss of both speed boats to gain a larger entertainment area . It's great to see new owners have kept the heli-pad tradition going with Cosmos .

History

In 1986 Cosmos was completed by Lloyd's Ships Brisbane . Also around this time (1986) the ship yard had just been taken over by the Qintex group ( under the control of the late Christopher Skase ).

At 86 ft ( now 90 ft ) Cosmos is still considered one of Australia's most luxurious and recognizable private vessels . Having featured in movies and lifestyle shows , it was the first boat of it's size to have a fully operational private Heliport . Cosmos set the standards for all mega yachts to come .

More - History

The construction of Cosmos took 3 full years to complete and was 100 % percent made in Australia from local materials

The hull ( super structure ) was made from 8 mm marine grade plate Aluminium . Stronger than other substrates like fibreglass and wood .

The upper deck was a complicated design , as it was required to receive Helicopters up to the size of a Bell Longranger and the heavy Aerospatiale AS-355 Twin Ecureuil .

In present day terms , Cosmos would have a replacement cost of well over $8 million .

Features

The top deck is well equipped with two jetskis , davits cradles and a large table and chair seating area accommodating up to 12 people.
All outside deck areas are made from beautiful teak wood planking sealed in quality varnish . The most outstanding feature of this vessel is of course the Helicopter landing area . Best suited for a Robinson R22 / R44

The ship is fully airconditioned through out and includes a bow thruster and Naiad stabilisers .
